How to Convert PBM to PNG

PBM's strictly 1-bit-per-pixel structure was designed in the mid-1980s for sending monochrome bitmaps reliably as plain ASCII text in email, at a time when binary attachments often became corrupted in transit. PNG is a far more broadly supported and flexible format, making it a practical target when legacy PBM output needs to be brought into a modern editing or archival workflow without any further lossy compression.

As with other conversions away from PBM, this changes the container format without adding back any color or grayscale detail, since PBM's bilevel structure never contained that information to begin with.

1. Install Batchify Image Converter and Resizer Pro on your Windows PC.
