How to Convert PPM to JPEG

PPM (Portable Pixmap), part of the Netpbm family created in the late 1980s, stores full color images at 24 bits per pixel in a simple, uncompressed structure that's easy for command-line tools and research software to read directly. That simplicity comes at a cost, though — PPM files are completely uncompressed and aren't supported by everyday photo viewers, browsers, or social platforms, which is why converting to JPEG is necessary anytime PPM output needs to be viewed or shared outside a technical pipeline.
