How to Convert RAW to BMP

RAW files require demosaicing before they can be viewed in any standard image viewer, and once that processing happens, BMP gives you the simplest possible output — an uncompressed pixel grid that virtually any software can read without needing to decode any compression at all. This matters for specific legacy tools, embedded systems, or older applications that expect BMP input and have no RAW or modern compressed format support whatsoever.

Since BMP stores image data uncompressed, expect the converted file to be considerably larger than a JPG or PNG export of the same RAW photo, trading file size for maximum compatibility with software that can't handle anything more complex.
